General Website and App Questions

Can I download my purchases as .mp3s and listen to them in an external audio player?

No, at this time it is not possible to download our audiobooks and listen to them in an external audio player. It is a change we are considering for the future though!

How do I listen to my purchases without an internet connection?

To enjoy your purchases offline, follow these steps in our app:

  • Open your app and play the appropriate audio
  • Locate the three dots in the top right and click them to reveal a menu
  • Select the “Download” link to make your audio files available offline

You can now listen to your downloaded content on the app without the need for an internet connection. It is not possible to listen to audiobooks on the website while offline.

Can I gift one of your titles to someone?

Yes, you can gift specific titles to another person from our website by clicking the gift button on that title’s page. Enter the giftee’s name, email address, the date you would like the title to be sent, and an optional message. Proceed to checkout as normal, and the giftee will receive an email with redemption instructions on your chosen delivery date.

Do you offer a subscription model?

We do not currently offer a subscription model for our content. Our platform operates on a pay-per-product model, and each product must be purchased individually. For our products that are broken up into seasons, the season can be purchased in one transaction — usually at a discounted rate!

Tech/Troubleshooting

My audio keeps pausing while I'm listening. What can I do to fix it?

If your audio streams keep pausing or skipping, this is likely due to an internet connection issue. Your best option is to download the audio locally. Click the three dots in the top right corner of your player, and press download. This will make the audio available without an internet connection, and it will no longer buffer or pause/skip audio while you’re listening.

I’ve logged into the app, and I can’t find my purchases in my library. How can I restore them?

If you’re unable to locate your purchases on our app, it’s possible that your local data has become corrupted. To address this, we recommend deleting and reinstalling the latest version of SBT Direct. This process ensures a clean installation and may help with any data-related problems. If this does not resolve your problem, please reach out to us here with the following information:

  • Your order number for the missing items
  • The email address associated with your Soundbooth Theater account
  • Your app version number, which can be found by clicking your profile icon and then clicking help
  • Your device make, model, and OS version number
I’m having trouble logging in. What should I do?

If you’re experiencing login issues, please follow these troubleshooting steps based on the specific error message you receive. If the problem persists or you do not see your error, please contact us and we’ll assist you further.

On the app:

  • Error: “An account already exists for this email. Please try with a different login method.”
Solution: You may have authenticated via Google instead of using a username and password. Try logging in with Google instead
  • Error: “Wrong password provided for that user.”
Solution: Double-check your password and try again. If you forgot your password, request a new one by clicking “Forgot Password,” and entering your email. If you’re not receiving a password reset email, try resetting your password from the website rather than the app

On the website:

  • Error: Invalid email address or password
Solution: Double-check your email and password for accuracy. If the issue persists, perform a password reset, and you’ll receive an email with instructions to change your password

If you encounter any further difficulties, don’t hesitate to reach out to us, providing the email address associated with your account so we can quickly assist you.

I think I have discovered a bug. What should I do?

If you believe you’ve encountered a bug, we appreciate you bringing it to our intention. Before reporting it to us, we recommend that you ensure you’re on the latest version of our app, as the latest version might have fixed the issue you’re encountering! If you’re still able to recreate the issue, please reach out to us through our contact form and include as much detail as possible, including steps to reproduce the bug, your device, and the error messages you received. Your feedback is valuable in helping us work out any kinks in the app. Thank you for your assistance!

Authors

How much does it cost to work with Soundbooth Theater?

We work on a royalty share basis with our authors, meaning there is no upfront cost to the author. The specific royalty share agreements are determined by sales of the eBook, audience reach, and quality.

Can I choose the narrator?

Soundbooth Theater generally makes the determination of who will narrate a project based on who is available and who seems like the best fit for the material; but authors are welcome to let us know if there is a particular narrator or voice actor(s) with whom they are hoping to work.

Does the genre matter?

Although we are best known for our work in GameLit/LitRPG and other Science Fiction and Fantasy subgenres, we are open to producing in most genres.

How quickly can my audiobook be produced?

For a Classic Audiobook, the production window is generally 90 days. For more extensive productions — like our Cinematic Audio — the production time may vary, depending on the scope of the project; i.e., how large the cast is, how complex the sound design is, how much original music is included, etc.

Narrators/Team Members

Is Soundbooth Theater hiring at the moment?

Soundbooth Theater is not currently hiring, but we will accept resumes and/or demos to keep on file for when an opening becomes available.

What types of positions are available at Soundbooth Theater?

Although there are currently no open roles, our production team consists of narrators/voice actors, audio engineers, sound designers, and more.

On the business side, we work with contractors for many of our corporate functions — such as finance and legal. Our internal business team consists of Marketing & Communications, Technology, and Operations professionals.

What tools and software do I need to become a narrator/voice actor?

You will need a microphone, recording software, and sometimes an audio interface to convert audio to digital, depending on your recording setup. For a more complete guide on this subject, please check out the following document, which was created by our Director of Sound, Ahmed Mahmoud.
