Just in time for the holidays, Soundbooth Theater is excited to announce one of our most important updates to the app since its inception: Parental Controls! Thanks to some great work from our dev team, we are rolling out new features that will give parents the ability to make informed decisions about their children’s access to SBT content.
As with many production companies, Soundbooth Theater is home to a broad scope of material. Some of it can be violent, sensual, and/or decorated with colorful language. First and foremost, we’ve given parents the power to block unwanted content! Now, users can navigate to parental controls by tapping their profile icon and selecting Parental Controls.
To enable Parental Control Mode, parents need only set a four-digit PIN and navigate back to the home screen. From there, someone may only disable Parental Control Mode by entering that PIN. Please note that while users will need to set a new PIN each time they enable Parental Control Mode, they are welcome to set the same PIN each time — but it’s on them if their kids figure out the PIN and somehow get into Kaiju.
In terms of what constitutes “kid-friendly” content, we know that different parents have different preferences. To give users the agency to determine which content is blocked from their children, we have implemented a detailed menu that automatically restricts the visibility of certain titles based on the filters they selected. For example, if a user would like to restrict sexual content but not violence, they would simply toggle the “sexual content” field to on and leave the “violence” field off.
We already have a few titles geared towards children and teens — such as Nightmare Spider Apocalypse, Epithet Erased: Prison of Plastic, and the first episode of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. With even more amazing content on the way for all audiences, we want to make it easy for everyone to enjoy content that’s appropriate for them, without stumbling upon any accidental nightmare fuel.
This new feature couldn’t have arrived at a better time, as we’ll be releasing some brand-new and new-to-us content during our infamous 12 Days of Christmas sale. So, stay tuned for your chance to score some aural fun for the whole family at the — unprecedented — discounted rate of 50% off.
Parental Controls have been implemented in Version 2.2.12 of the app. To make sure your version is up to date, please visit the Google Play store or the Apple App store.
